New GTAs

  1. All new GTAs must participate in the Biology 22x teacher training and are required to attend all weekly seminars. The seminar takes place on Mondays from 11:00 – 11:50am in WNGR 226. Students may optionally register for graduate-level academic credit in conjunction with the required Monday seminar. Successful completion of the 1-credit course requires additional readings and assignments beyond attending seminar. Course Number: IB512; P/N. Please contact the course coordinators if you have a conflict.
  2. In addition, all TAs must complete a professional development project, peer or self-evaluation using the designated protocols. This assignment varies with term (Fall – class capture; Winter – Peer Evaluation using LOPUS; Spring: Teaching Portfolio or Statement of Teaching Philosophy).

Returning GTAs

Returning GTAs are considered students that have participated in at least one term of the professional development seminar. To complete the professional development requirements, please complete the following:

  1. Choose one of the following options each week:
    1. Attend the weekly teaching seminar (M 11-11:50)
    2. Complete a professional development activity from the provided list
    3. Complete a combination of attending seminar and an alternative activity from the provided list
  2. Complete a professional development peer or self-evaluation using the designated protocols. This assignment varies with term.
